How to play the animal size comparison game
Each Size It Up Animals round gives you a fixed blue reference and a violet animal to resize. The reference is already at its real scale. Adjust the target until the relationship looks convincing, then lock in your estimate to see the true outline, measurement, and score.
Do not start by trying to remember an isolated number. Ask how many of the reference animal could fit along the target: is a wolf twice as long as a cat, or is an orca closer to one and a half great white sharks? Ratios make the animal size guessing game easier to feel.

A photograph usually removes the very thing you need: a reliable object for scale. A polar bear can look like a large dog on a screen, while an ostrich can look human-sized when you have never seen one standing beside a person. The animal size comparison game puts those missing relationships back on the same visual stage.
Different body plans create different traps. Whales are judged by length, giraffes by height, birds may be judged by standing height or wingspan, and a snake can be measured along a very different axis from the shape your eye notices first. The board names the scored dimension so your estimate has a clear target.
Build useful animal size anchors
The most useful references are ordinary animals you can picture without a photograph: a house cat is about 46 centimetres long, a human is around 1.7 metres tall, and a golden retriever is about one metre from nose to tail base. These anchors turn a surprising reveal into a relationship you can reuse in the next round.
For the largest animals, keep a short mental ladder. An orca is about 7 metres long, a humpback whale about 14 metres, and a blue whale about 27 metres. You do not need perfect memory; you need a few dependable steps that let you make a good first estimate before fine-tuning.
Use every reveal as an animal size lesson
A miss is useful when you can explain it. If the red outline is twice your guess, you may have treated a large bird like a person, confused wingspan with body length, or remembered a juvenile animal instead of the selected adult. Read the field note under the board and keep the relationship, not just the number.
The library includes living animals and selected prehistoric animals, so the page is also a compact real-world size guide. Measurements are editorial selections for a named dimension, which means a dinosaur estimate or a whale length should be read as a comparison value rather than a claim that every individual is identical.

How many animals are in the Size It Up Animals game?
The current playable animal library contains 107 entries, including living animals, very small creatures, birds, sea animals, and selected dinosaurs. The count is generated from the scheduled game library rather than hard-coded into the page.
What does the animal size game compare?
Each round names the measurement being scored: length, height, or wingspan. A whale is compared by length, a giraffe by height, and a bird may be compared by wingspan when that is the useful dimension.
